Hoaloha is a Hawaiian word that means companion or dear friend.

We're friends who share a passion for learning the Polynesian dance and culture.

Hoaloha Polynesian Dance Group

We perform for the community to share a Hawai'ian tradition of the Hula and its music.  We perform both ancient (Kahiko) and modern ('Auana) styles of Hula as well as other dances from the Polynesian Islands. Instructor available to teach at your events.

Dance Instructor
Melanee Hirvela

teaches Polynesian dancing and fitness classes. She has trained in Polynesian dancing for over 30 years with a focus on Hawaiian Hula.  She has performed at private and public events. She continues to train at workshops under the instruction of Kumu Hula (Hula Masters) and other Polynesian Dance Masters from the islands.  She offers Hula for Health to Seniors in Michigan.  She is licensed to teach ZUMBA Fitness, ZUMBA Toning, ZUMBA Gold (for Seniors), and ZUMBA for kids. She is grateful to be able to share her passion for dance and fitness to her students.  An additional goal is to teach her students an appreciation for other cultures. Melanee is a classroom teacher with over 20 years of experience.  She lives with her husband, Matthew, and her 2 sons, Noah and Maxwell, in Michigan.
